MG TD TF 1500 - ?Deal for someone

Saw this one on E-bay. Could be a diamond in the ruff for someone. Pull the motor, paint the firewall and the motor and you have a resonably respectable TD. An early one at that.

Saw that one as well... seems like a good price even at the 'buy it now' price?

Interesting painted grill shell? Dash looks to be 'peel and stick' shelf paper... still a good start for someone!

Much better than a number of "Restorable" ones we have seen. If the paint is reasonably ok and body is solid, you have a large part done.

Grill appears to be original, just painted, so a chroming, a set of slats and redoing the dash along with the firewall and engine would not add but a couple thousand. Even if engine is a full rebuild, you are going to be in a reasonable price range.

Looks nice, fair price, ..listing seems sincer and the phone numbers listed pass the "search test". (They come up as real person with an address & name that match his ebay name, address of item & a body shop if you google them.) This is the kind of ebay add I look for if cosidering a vehicle purchase!
Like I have said before about common sence when dealing with ebay...this guy seems to pass all the test. NOT somebody hidding behind a cell phone number!
He also has sold another vehicle recently if you check the feedback!
If I had room for another project I would strongly consider this one. IMHO

Got to be a reason why it is not selling. $8K for that BIN is a fine price. Thought about it myself if it were only closer.

I kind'a like the grill and grill shell treatment. Doesn't look too bad, different but not too bad. Have not of course any idea if the grill shell could be replated. Of course Moss had grill slats a while ago, think they still do. So the different treatment could be reversed if the buyer so desired. Certainly priced right.

Gee...I don't know..changing the grill insert is pretty radical if you ask me....!!!!!!!

I also noticed the incorect steering wheel, horn, fuel filter, an installed starter solenoid instead of the pull switch, painted fuel lines, and the spare tire rack is chromed. Dash knobs don't look right either - are the trouble light outlets missing? Still, for only 8 grand?

Wow, still no bids. I thought this one would be gone quickly.

Funny how auctions can go crazy and bids get astronomical, yet put in a 'buy it now' price and everyone gets timid??? Am sure someone has written a book on the psychology of auciton bidders!!

Sournds like a steal to me at the buy now price. I paid 5 grand for my car 9 years agp and it was in far worse shape and had more missing parts than this one.
Tom

I just don't get it!
This looks like such a good deal compared to others I have seen!
Even an "offer" to buy it now (if delivered) but no bid! I had a car shipped from CA. to OH. for $500.00.
Got to be some bidders waiting it out till the last minute?
Will be interesting to see what happens.

It finally got one bid. It will be interesting to see if it gets going when the auction ends.

Car sold for $7856. Looks like it went to an MG person at least. Be interesting to hear more about the car. If it was a bargan..

Considering what most of us paid, it can't be anything but a bargain!!!!

Wonder if the new owner knows about this site? I had my TF for over a year before I found it ...but wished I would have found it sooner!
Has anybody had any contact with the seller or know the buyer?
If not ...one of of should drop them a note whilst the listing is still there!
(But not all of us!)
