MG TD TF 1500 - Dim Headlights
My headlights run very dim. When I hook the bulb directly to the battery they are fine. Have tried just about everything including instalilng a direct ground to the bulb, and rewiring the light switch. High beams seem to work well. Any thoughts? |

Be sure the correct wired are to the correct plugs. This happens all the time. A hot wire is sent to the ground. Try a ground to the frame from the headlight also, a wire not just attachment to the body. It is not grounded good. |

Hi Bruce, The low beam should always be less bright than the high beam. The wattage on the bulb should read something like 60/40 or similar, the 60 being high beam and the 40 being low beam. If you are using the car at night a lot and not too concerned about originality you could easily change over to sealed beam headlights. A standard 7 inch sealed beam will fit right in without any modifications. The wattage will generally be something like 75/50 and with better reflectivity available will make a marked improvement. The generator will handle this OK as long as you don't use any additional lighting as in spotlights. Hope this helps, Paul. |
