See this link, it should have all the info you need.
My car should have the D2A distributor but it is fitted with an earlier DKY4A which I am in the process of changing for a new one built on the 45D model. These are avilable from Brown and Gammon in the Uk or from Peter Edney mg spares. Moss advertise the same model but have no plans to remanufacture any at the present time.

You might also want to have a look at the recent thread "Distributor Identification" which was posted on this BBS on 7th August 2011.
To pick up on Mick's comment, earlier this year I installed a 45D variant from Brown and Gammons. It works fine on my Jan 53 TD. They're a bit on the expensive side but if you do want to change your distributor and you let them know which engine you have, you'll at least get the right distributor for your car. If you do change, be aware that the drive gear comes seperately and isn't cheap (unless you can use the one off your old dizzy). There was some comment on the board in July 2009 about the cost and merits/demerits of the Peter Edney distributor. (See: "Distributor Lucas 43D").
With some irony, after mine conked-out last year I searched for an original D2A4 for months, before finally going for the new 45D. After continuing to look - more out of interest than anything else - I then picked up 2 decent ones in quick succession on UK flea-bay, a few weeks ago.
