MG TD TF 1500 - Does anyone use, as in look at their ammeter?

My A doesn't have one. I don't miss it and I can't imagine installing one.

In reality it is adding about 3 to 4 feet of additional wiring into the circuit, that is why voltmeters took over for a bit and now there is just idiot lights.

My generator light is a little hard to see so I tend to scope out the ammeter a bit, but then I spent 20,000+ hours scanning aircraft gauges so I am a little gauge centric.

O yes. Among other things it's a handy way of knowing that my brake lights are working. Bud

I can't wait to look at mine again. It's been almost 47 years! I remember there being something reassuring about seeing that pointer move. Cheers

I use it to check the brake and turn lights, and to be sure the generator is actually charging. A tiny flick tells me that all is well with the brakes and turn signals, and a quick check with the headlights on tells me all is charging above about 1,000 RPM.

It will also show if your fuel pump had a heart. You really have to get to know it.

I never look at mine since I fitted an alternator. A voltmeter is more useful, but since I didn't want an intrusive additional gauge I fitted an LED indicator that is very small yet gives me the same information - the state of charge or battery condition - it changes in colour from red to yellow to green. The supplier is Gammatronix.

Now that my charging system is working again, I glance at mine for reassurance that it still is.

I thought all MG drivers - after several years driving a T type - had eyes that looked in two different directions.
I have one on the Oil Pressure/Ammeter & one on the road.
The deformity goes with the larger left arm form working the wipers and the fact that you talk louder for several minutes after getting to where you were going.
Folks just say "He's OK - he's got an MG"
Rumor has it the deodorant smells like 20/50 as well.

Rod, too funny. My wife and I have given up trying to hold any conversation other than the usual "where we gonna eat?".

I constantly monitor the tach, oil pressure, and ammeter. Gives me peace of mind.
