MG TD TF 1500 - Done.... mostly
One week shy of 13 years I have mostly finished my TF restoration. It is a 54 1250 ser#3006 made in Feb 1954 then shipped to the USA and registered as a 55 in the Eastern States in Jan 1955. I bought it from a Podiatrist in Ohio in 2008 and turned it into 1000+ individual smaller projects that resulted in a car that I can enjoy well into my second childhood and dotage!
I have to thank many many of you who have shared your experiences and help over those 13 years. Without which this project might have never been completed. The car has been registered and is on the road with just over a 100 miles on the odometer. The first failure was a fuel pump rebuilt by the Great Dave Dubois but it had set on the shelf for over 10 years....I think I just have to find a way to adjust it because it “clicks” twice then stops. I had a Puralator Facet that I plumbed in as a temporary replacement and it works fine. I hope to have lots of fun with the car that I had named Winston when I first got it. And I plan to drive it and not use it as a trailer Queen. Again thank you all for your help! Best regards Rod Murray |

Rod: Very nice. Well worth your effort. Now you can enjoy driving it and just tweaking minor things which will keep you active. :-) |

Congratulations Rod! Your TF came out great. Quality is better than time someone said to me once. What more things do you have left to do? Wear the tread off the tires driving it with a smile on your face. Frank TF1414 |

Very nice car. Can I add you to the TF List? I need the full HD number from the black plate. Beautiful restoration |

Looks to me like the time it took to finish was well worth it! Drive it with well-deserved pride! PJ |

Many thanks for the comments!
The full HD# is HDE43/3006 XPAG/TF/32855, Rick for the list. Frank, I am awaiting 2 side mirrors from the LBCC and I am electrifying the 2 rear reflectors with internal high intensity LED's like were done with the rear lights. I also have to repair and replace the fuel pump. I also have to colour sand the paint that I did myself and am not quite happy with yet. Thierry the paint is a metallic brown. I also have to find photos of the windshield washer bottle and activater as I have the bottle etc but can't figure out how to install yet! But mostly I want to drive the heck out of it! Best regards Rod |
