MG TD TF 1500 - Early TD Charging

Are there any particular tricks to keep in mind when running down a charging issue in an early TD with the 9-post regulator?

The discharge light stays on all the time and the ammeter shows 30A discharge with the headlights on. No improvement revving it up. May also be the new loom the customer installed.

I'll start by doing the generator test by connection the two generator terminals, but don't remember how to check the 9-post regulator.

Same as the 5 post regulator (the other 4 posts are just for the fuses - nothing to do with the actual regulator. Cheers - Dave
