MG TD TF 1500 - Electronic SU fuel pump
Greetings to all -- I've done a cursory search of the archives, but not come up with appropriate responses... Has anyone had experience with the "new" electronic SU fuel pump sold by Moss? It eliminates the contact breaker points, but retains the pump diaphragm and traditional "clicking" sound. After rebuiling and replacing regular SU pumps many times over the past years, it is an enticing prospect. Scott |

I bought one from Burlen in the UK about 4-5 years ago and it has worked perfectly since. I suspect they make the one Moss sells. David DuBois who is a regular on this list can retrofit a standard SU pump at less than half the cost of a new electronic version. Terry |

Scott, I purchased a positive ground one from Holden Classic in the UK 5 years ago this summer and it never misses a beat. It clicks just like the old points style. Dave |

The chap up the road from me has a JC Whitney fuel pump in his TD that has been there for several years w/o problems - $37 from JC Whitney, Just be sure to order the correct (volume of flow) unit. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

I bought one from Moss about 3 years ago. 7000 miles and it works very well. |

We've been told the electronic upgrade kits are no longer available; if you want an electronic pump you'll have to buy a whole one new. Available new in +ve & -ve ground, they look exactly alike the old pumps. Yes they even 'tick'. |

Will - I just purchased a positive ground upgrade kit from Burlen Fuel several weeks ago. Scott - I can modify your pump to solid state using a different triggering method than the Hall effect circuit used by Burlen Fuel for considerably less than the cost an all electronic pump. Cheers - Dave |
