MG TD TF 1500 - Engine accessory bracket ?
Could someone tell me what this bracket is for? Was it for something on an earlier engine? Mine is a 1500 and I don't recall anything being attached to it, but curiosity has me wondering. PJ

Good question! I've got the same bracket. That oil pipe to the right goes closer to the bracket on mine but is not attached to it. Wonder if that was the purpose? Hope somebody knows. |

Gentlemen - Remember that the XPAG/XPEG engines were used for many different applications, so it it not unusual to fine unused brackets or attachment points on various parts of the engine. The bracket in question is not on the tappet chest cover plate on our TD, but the bosses for attaching the TC style air filter are, even though they are unused on the TD. There are also threaded holes in the sump of our TD for the bracket to hold the clutch cable, even though the cable operated clutch was abandoned before the 1953 TD was built. Cheers - Dave |

Here You can fit a second clamp for the oil breather pipe so that it doesn't slack. Greeting from Germany Klaus |

Somewhere I think I saw a clamp for an oil line on a Y-type or some variant at a GOF years ago. George |

Thanks guys. Just curiosity on my part, but I would still like to know what it was originally for. I thought a possible clamp bracket for the oil line, and later discovered it wasn't needed. PJ |

Paul, Originally the tab stuck straight out from the pushrod cover, not bent in a 180 as yours is shown. warmly, dave |

Odd that mine is bent the same way though??? I met another 50 TD the other day in the 3000 SN range and he didn't have the piece at all. |
