MG TD TF 1500 - Engine vibration
The adventure continues...... OK out there, I'm back for more help. I have a vibration in my car that eventually causes my hands to go numb on the steering wheel. When the car is standing still I can feel the vibration on the gearshift extension. It varies with engine speed and other than that it does not change. It seems to be picked up by the drive chain as I go along, causing other rattles. Is it the timing, pushrods, flyheel balance, all three or normal? Should the engine run smooth? Oh yeah, mine is a '53. Thanks, Tom |

Thomas, Have you inspected the fan blades? It happened to me but there was no vibration at idle. But you never know. George |

Hi Tom, what happens when you push the clutch in with the engine running in neutral. This is important as we may be able to eliminate the clutch assembly. Unless these engines are balanced they will vibrate a bit but not as bad as you describe. Cheers, Paul. |

Thanks for the good question. I have the vibration with the clutch pushed in also. I think that this vibration is linked to the rattle in my transmission gearshift lever also. I too am following a parellel thread with a rattle on this B/B. Tom |
