MG TD TF 1500 - Extractor Manifold

Just thought I'd show off a bit. I bit the bullet and ordered one of Manley Ford's extractor manifolds for my street TC. Just came today...beautiful workmanship and made of stainless steel. Not cheap but should last my lifetime (and probably the car's)since I'm going to get it JetHot coated too.

Another view...

Oooooooohhhhhh. Keep the intakes Gene and send me the rest and we'll see how it works with this.

LED DOWNEY

That's why the intakes are going to disappear...so I can mount the other supercharger.

Looks like you've got your carburetion issue taken care of...what parts did you have to buy from Burlen (or Curto)?? One of these days I'm going to have to break down and do the same.
Gene Gillam

Gene,

Just lovely, but the shape of the plate between the head and manifold, presupposes that you have the knife-edge mod to your head.

Whilst many people do make that mod, I don't think all do, and it would absolutely have to be done, otherwise you would have undesired turbulance of the incoming gasses.

BTW, how much does it weigh?

Got the parts from Joe. Float bowl, needle, new shaft and bushings, rebuild kit, Triumph type jet lever and choke cable holder and a throttle shaft return spring. About 200 bucks worth. I'm not quite there yet but I'm getting close. Radiator is at the shop for a new high efficency core. The original was marginal at best. Got an oil cooler mounted. Fit issues most likely with the blower intake that you won't have on the TC.

Is the first photo still showing up? I often have trouble seeing a 'first' photo in a posting?

Cooler mounted behind the license plate with a little home made aluminium scoop.

I can still bring it up Gordon. This is going to seem odd, but when I'm using the PC at work and try and look at a post that I have attached a photo to from home, it almost never loads although any others will. Seems pretty strange to me.

LaVerne
LED DOWNEY

LaVern,

What blower is that? Moss? And did the inlet manifold (between blower and cylinder head) come with it? That is one great looking installation. Your car is a TF?

I need one of those manifolds and my source in England isn't doing them any more. Think they would sell just the manifold?

Reed it's not a Moss. Eaton 45 blower comes with the manifolds. Don't know about the manifold by itself. Yes it is on a TF. I can give you a contact if you like.

LaVerne,

A contact would be most appreciated. Thanks

Gordon,

Shipping weight was 16 lbs...so the manifold is probably a pound or two less without the packing. I haven't weighed a stock manifold yet but would imagine it would be pretty close when you add the flange and corresponding length of exhaust pipe.

And yes, porting and polishing will be done when it's installed. It's not hard to do at home with a die grinder and I don't plan on having it bench flow tested.

I have Manley's manifold on my car, N.A. (no blower),with intakes, I did not like the way one has to secure the stock intake manifold to the head, if his header is purchased with out intake manifold. With his intake the front air filter will not fit, with out body work to the bonnet side panel (T/D & TF). For now the front air filter is a nylon stocking over a B air filter base plate. The stock muffler system will not work, his collector is 2" v.s. stock 1 5/8" and is no where near the transmission bracket.Car runs great, also installed at the same time recurved distributor, ported, polished, & relieved, to the MAX!!And of course, new camshaft more duration, but comes on earlier @ 2,800, & goes to 5,500 & more. At 92 MPH there was more speed left, 5,300 corrected RPM, 4:30 gearset. Also ceramic coated by my local shop, much better price than others, carbs mounted directly to manifold, no spacer, no heat shield, no hot soak fuel problems!

Led... were you able to get both the blower and manifold from Eaton?
gblawson(gordon)

Gordon,

I've got the same blower as LaVerne...it's an Eaton M45 and comes with everything (excepting the carburetor)...with the exception of the intake you'd think you had a Moss Magnacharger.

They aren't available from Eaton...when I bought mine it was from a limited run of 10. The person was supposed to be going into production but I've heard nothing more about that happening...maybe LaVerne has more info he can share.

I'm assuming that Moss just bought Eatons ??? And had a run of manifolds made... when they ran out of manifolds, they would have dropped the line? (correct me if I'm wrong).
