MG TD TF 1500 - Fasteners Rear Quarter Panel - Wheel Arch
What fasteners attach the TF rear quarter panels / wheel arches to the body frame? My TF had a hodgepodge selection of QP fasteners.
BOLTS/SCREWS > Hex head 1/4BSF & nut? > Flat head countersunk 1/4BSF & nut? > If flat head, slotted or Phillips? > Washers? > What fastener (head & size) and nut attached the back of the QP/Wheel Arch to the bracket on the chassis? RIVETS > I can't rivet the wheel arch to the rear tie bar. Any suggestions for fasteners that look like rivets on the exposed side of the arch? Thanks for your help, Lonnie TF7211 |

Restoration Supply Co. stocks "screw rivets" which look like a normal round head screw, but do not have the slot, so once installed they look like a rivet. I have used them often when I need to replace the base of headlamps after I have the buckets replated. They come in various sizes. |

From memory, 1/4" Slotted, flat head, countersunk BSF. with nut. Through habit,I use a washer, spring washer and nut. Orientation wise, if you looked through the wheel spokes from the outside, you would see the slot heads. Cheers Rob Grantham |

Lonnie When I did dads TD/c I completely dismantled the tub. I bought new solid steel rivets for the tie bar to wheel arch mountings. Using a large hammer and a bodywork dolly as a backer, with a few mild blows it was set. No heat needed. |
