MG TD TF 1500 - Float Chamber Forks
The float chamber forks in my TF's carbs have a small tab close to the holes for the pivot pin which prevents the fork dropping too low. One of these has broken off and if I leave the car fuel evaporates, the fork falls, jams the needle valve and the carb floods. I have checked the web pages from various suppliers and the forks they show do not have these tabs. Does anyone know the correct part number for these. Jan T |

I think these are what you need. http://sucarb.co.uk/float-chambers-spares/float-forks.html Jim B. |

Jim is correct, you can call Burlen and order the fork that you need (that is where I get all the bits and pieces for my SU fuel pump restoration business. Cheers - Dave |

Jan, A few years ago I had the same problem. At that time Burlen couldn't supply the fork with the centre tab, I used an early fork and cut two slots in the centre piece to make a tab. To obtain a narrow slot I used a junior hacksaw blade with the set ground off the teeth. John |

Just spoken to Burlen. The part number is AUC1980. This relates to a copper fork. Later ones are stainless and the number for these (incorrect) ones is AUD 2285. One is in the post to me at a cost of £11. A bit expensive but I don't like fuel leaking from the float overflow tube onto the exhaust. Jan T |
