MG TD TF 1500 - Floor Board Center Bracket Bolts

There are two counter sunk screws securing the rear end of the center steel floor board brackets as the holes are designed for. The two in the front by the transmission have elongated holes and appear to use cap screws with flat washers. Am I correct in assuming this? I have counter sunk screws in there now, but they don't look right. PJ

Hi PJ,
You're making good progress, I'm a bit behind you, and after looking at your pic, I won't send one of mine. But, mine has hex head cap screws with flat washers there. I doubt that they're original, but look like they belong. I don't remember how the floorboards fit over them, been too long, and the floor boards were pretty rough.
Our parts came back from the body/paint shop last week, now I'm trying to get the chassis cleaned up & painted, then some wiring, body panels, then upholstery shop. <http://www.boatanchors.org/mgtf.htm>

Mine has the hex head also. Floorboards are notched for it.

I would also say that Dave does have a way of getting his point across. (Grin). PJ

I was just going to say that it was nice of the PO to leave him that note ;-) Cheers - Dave

PS. Listening to the news this evening, if you are going to replace your fuel pump with an after market one, don't use Bosh.
David DuBois

Dave, Not that I'm going to buy one, but out of curiosity, could you elaborate a little on the Bosh pumps. PJ

OK, that's embarrasing. Gordon spent years as a professional photographer (you can tell just by looking at his event pictures). My favorite moment with is Mom this past summer was the pride in her eyes when she spoke of his expertise and art in photography. I'm glad we got to meet her before she passed.

My pictures don't hold a candle to his. However, I do know he likes my little library of restoration photos. The story is that the anal engineer part of me kicked in during the disassembly process and documented everything. Was I afraid that I wouldn't get Tommy back together? Not exactly, I just didn't want to be my own DPO!

I did look at the WSM three times when I assembled Tommy, during the steering trunion installation (before I realized the bolt relief would result in proper adjustment of the camber), the master cylinder rebuild, and the wiring diagram for well, wiring. Everything else went back together according to my pictures, friends recommendations, and memory.
