MG TD TF 1500 - front license plate bracket location
I own an Arkley midget with a mg-td or tf front bumper and I would like to know where the license plate bracket would go as I have a name plate that I would like to put on my car. Paul Dillon |

Paul, My TF came to me with an awfull looking bracket mounted with a rusty bolt through one of the bumper bolts (off to one side). I came up with a much better (and orginal looking way) of mounting it with a peice of flat stock and a couple of stainless steel ubolts that will mount below the "crank-hole" in the bumper and be centered. Best of all, I will not have to drill any holes on car to mount it. I haven't installed it yet, so if you would like would be happy to snap a digi pic and email to you if you would like to see it. The TD & TF front bumper have two holes on the bottom of the front bumper about 2-inches towards the center from the overriders, small "Z-shaped" brackets were fitted so that you had a vertical piece below for each with a horizontal hole. This then was fitted to the long English Number Plate so that it was parallel and below the front bumper. These holes (and brackets) are too far apart for the standard American size license plate (or its' bracket). Various jury rigged stuff was done to fit American front plates. This included using a blank English front plate with additional holes drilled to match the American size plate. Look at any book or manual that shows British registered cars (T-cars especially) |

If you cannot find the mounting holes on the bottom side of the bumper, you probably have a replacement, If you had a "real" T-Car, I could send you a drawing of the brackets and the installation. The "Z" brackets are very hard to find. |
