MG TD TF 1500 - Frozen ignition/light switch
Does anyone have any tips for freeing a frozen headlight switch lever in the ignition/light switch? Or disassemble it? Thanks, Tom |

Sorry, it’s a 1952 TD. |

A counter-clockwise twist of the chrome rim will disassemble it. BUT BE WARNED. the reassembly will cause you hours of fiddling to get all back together. Best you send it off to Craig Seabrook in Novelty, Ohio. |

If you are into the hobby and enjoy fiddling, I would not hesitate open it up. Regards, Tom |

Thanks for these three helpful replies. I will have a go at repairing it. I do antique clocks so I’m used to little pieces flying around. but meanwhile, gl krukoski, I’d like to buy one of yours since my lever is broken. My email is tccjr220@earthlink.net. Thanks! |

Here are the parts in order if you get confused. :-) |

Years ago a gentleman on this site (Dave Braun perhaps??) offered the suggestion of disassembling components that have loaded springs within in an old pillow case. Any parts set free would thus be contained. You could use a new pillow case, but there is no helpful hint on how to “contain” your partner when they find out. Regards, Tom |

Using a pillow case may contain parts, but it will not allow you to see how things are assembled. Open it gently and carefully and observe how it is assembled. |

The pillowcase was not “in the blind.”, you just work from the open end. Regards, Tom |
