MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel Flexible hoses
My '54 TF 1250 (rear mounted fuel pump) has the original brass banjo & fittings on the ends of the 2 flexible fuel hoses ,the flexible part having been replaced with rubber hoses.
What should the originals look like ?
I obtained 2 new teflon-lined braided hoses ,the one between the carbs having an incorrectly shaped banjo which is also zinc plated steel ,not brass like original.
From the archives I understand the teflon liner is a good idea , but I would like a hose which looks more original !
In a similar vein my new OIL GAUGE Flex hose is a braided item with smaller size zinc plated fittings
compared to the larger brass nuts on the original.
Are more original types available ?
Or is it possible to use the original end fittings & get a new flex fitted with both the oil & fuel pipes ?
Interested to hear opinions
|The one thing that blew on the TD the first day on the road was the rubber hose leading to the oil pressure gauge...right down at the firwall (think there was a spring wrapped around it?) I lost 6 quarts of oil and couldn't figure out why my oil pressure was dropping...|
I replaced it with an MGB braided hose and it fit perfectly.... original, no...not going to burst...probably not!
