MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel pump
I recently purchased a 1952 MG TD, and found that it has had an electronic fuel pump installed (Purolator). When I turn the ignition switch to the "on" position, the fuel pump makes a clicking sound. Is this normal? Thanks. |

It should click until the float bowels fill and then shut off or click every minute or so. That's the way the original electric pump works. |

Ken, The original SU pump shuts off once the lines and float bowls are filled. After that it just ticks on occassion as fuel is used. Many 'modern' pumps are not designed that way and will be heard to continue to 'buzz' as long as power is applied. Your Purolator may be of that type. |
