MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel Pump Palpitations
Happy New Year Everyone, Although I don't post very often, I am an avid reader of all threads. I have been helped times by the information and expertise all of you share. Thinking of how impressed my friend would be when my TD fired up, I was standing there like the "dummy of the year" as the pump just kept ticking away. As the pump is not original, I had no hesitation in removing and disassembling it on the spot. It is a Dupree/Walpro model 801. The rubber bellows is torn in half. Does anyone know where I might find a rebuild kit for this? Should I forget it and go for an S.U.? All the Best, Jim |

E. Lawrie Rhoads, 7 Knollwood Rd., Medfield, MA 02052-2703. Lawrie can also be reached via e-mail at elawrene@verizon.net No comercial relation, I did get a nicely rebuilt horm from him a few years ago. He recently had a number of rebuilt SU pumps for about $100. Over the years I (lukily) have never been stranded by a failed SU origianl points-type pump- very reliable. George |

Lawrie Rhoads no longer works on fuel pumps, just horns and windshields. Jim, you might go to my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ click on links and see the listing of people who still do work on fuel pumps and try some of them to see if any will work on the Walbro pump (I don't). If all else fails go to the APE web site at: http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/ and look up the repair kit for your model fuel pump and do a rebuild on your pump. Cheers - Dave |

George & David, Thanks for your help and info. The autoperformance link has a rebuild kit for everything needed and the pricing is reasonable. Thanks again. Jim |
