MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel Pump Position - 54TF

Does anyone have a picture of a fuel pump mounted on a 54TF that show its orientation on the frame? I am not sure that the one on my TF was mounted correctly and I not been able to find a good picture of how it goes. I think I know how it goes but want to be sure. The bracket can be mounted a couple of different ways as can the pump itself.

John Brickell - I looked at your great developing TF web sight and it looks to me that your fuel pump is mounted on the firewall to the right of the tool box. I thought all TF's had the pump mounted on the frame in front of the rear axle. Maybe that is not a fuel pump but it sure looks like one.

Also, can anyone help me out with the bracket in the attached (I hope) picture? I did not have a digital camera when I took things apart a long time ago so I don't have many pictures of where things went. I cannot find this bracket in any of the catalogs. Does anyone know where it goes and what it is called?

Many thanks for any info....

Early TF's had the fuel pump mounted on the bulk head, the they took them back to the frame. Here is a shot of mine during the tear down. I've evey part off my TF and I don't recognise the bracket. Perhaps another picture with a dufferent angle might refresh my memory.

Geeze, looks like a third grader wrote my post. Here is another picture.

LaVerne, Thanks for the pictures of the fuel pump. Would you happen to have one that shows the routing of the fuel lines from the pump. Mine are bent all wrong since it was not mounted correctly. Not quite sure how the lines (input and output) leave the pump.

Also, have attached another view of the bracket. Not sure if it will help. Thanks again.... John

Not having a TF, does the rear valance cover the pump? It is interesting the differences between the TD and the later TFs.

Loved the third grader comment LaVerne!

This was the setup on an original TF a friend was working on... not sure it that is the little bracket or not? Does show the routing of the lines?

Ah, I see, it's right behind the lower tie for the tub.

thanks,

Sorry John,

I don't have any more pics of the fuel line. As for the bracket, the closest thing I could come to it was the front bump stop without the rubber, But even that doesn't look quite right.

Gordon, thanks for that picture. I see how the lines go now.

LaVerne, nope that's not it. I am really stumped with this one. I know it came off the car from somewhere. I think I will try and get some better pictures of it and do a separate post for the 'Mystery Bracket'

On the fuel pump position, looks like John B's TF was indeed an early one in the production of the TF's. I believe his was the 280th one built in late 1953.

It seems to be 'shaped' in such a way as to hold a 'cannister' type shape... fuel pump/coil/etc?
gblawson(gordon)

J- definitely not from a TD, and likely not TF. TD parts all very fresh in my head-sure about that, TF has been a few years. Most likely something someone used for something out of a junk box-Buick or something? George
