MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel Pump Wiring
Got my new fuel pumps last week for my 53 TD Mark II. Mounted them and attached the fuel lines and lines to the carbs. Now the wire I thought was for power, when I tested it before attaching it, goes to ground. There is another wire that I thought was a ground wire, and yes, it does go to ground. Am I missing something, or, more likely, the wiring is botched up in the dashboard? Can someone who has a Mark II send me a picture of how the carbs are wired together. I had the dash board off to replace the screws and saw a lot of nasty stuff behind it. Right now I do not want to rewire, just get running. Thank you. |

CH - The power for the fuel pumps comes off the A3 terminal of the fuse block. It is a white wire and for the MKII it could be either a single line that is daisy chained from the A3 terminal to the first pump and then to the second pump, or it can be two separate wires from the A3 terminal going to each pump. The ground lug on each pump gets a black wire going to a ground point under the scuttle (the wires can go to any convenient ground point - I don't know exactly which ground point they originally went to).
