MG TD TF 1500 - Gasoline price
Just interested but how much a litre does gasoline cost in the States and the UK. Here in Sydney it ranges from $A 0.99 ($US 0.72, £0.51) to $A1.20 ($US 0.87, £0.62) that is for unleaded of 91 octane. E10 is appx. 3 cents /litre cheaper but with a 95 octane rating. John...Sydney |

It varies slightly from one place to another but £1 - £1.03p. Dave H |

I had to do some converting from gallons to liters but the prices are way down and yesterday I paid .47 a liter (US) for 87 octane for my pickup. |

Gas was $1.659/gallon yesterday in North Carolina. So I paid $0.43/liter (if my aging left hemisphere is worth spit). |

The price I gave was for 95 octane (you would struggle to find anything lower here) unleaded. Dave H |

In the Netherlands: 1 liter euro95 does cost € 1,46 ($ 1,61 or £ 1,14). Price overhere is high because of 'heavy' taxes... Jasper |

I am in Virginia, in the suburbs of Washington, DC. I paid $1.98 per gallon for 93 octane premium, 51 cents per litre. Erick 1952 TDC 2008 BMW 3228i Last of the straight 6 cylinder engines. |

California is still one of the highest in the US at: $0.55 per litre for 87 octane $0.60 per litre for 93 octane Hawaii may still be higher? Roy |

In New Orleans Last week $1.37/gal or roughly .36/liter; cheapest I've seen anywhere for regular. Today in New Hampshire I paid 2.16/gal for premium or about .57/liter. I wasn't shopping price, just wanted to top off car for a trip. I probably could have found it for less if I shopped. Regular is running 1.70 - 1.75 |

Upstate South Carolina, 87 octane non-ethanol about $2.60/US Gal. or $0.69/liter. 97 octane with ethanol ("Hi-Test")is about the same. Jud |

$1.80 for 10 gallons in Venezuela. Apparently the gas taxes go to subsidize the price of gas. Only the rich can afford cars in this Communist utopia. |

$1.85 for regular gas here in the Philadelphia area. BTW, there's a good app for finding the cheapest gas here in the US... GasBuddy... works well. |

Saw 87 octane at a Mobil station here for $1.65 US gallon cash price, a bit higher for credit card purchases. |

Just paid $1.659/gal for 87 at B-J's in Plymouth MA. Bud |

Yesterday I saw $1.42 per gallon in Elizabeth, NJ. Last year we were paying $11 -$12 per gallon for race gas (100 or 110 octane). It will be interesting to see what they charge this year. Mark Sherman |

I paid $2.19 per U.S. Gallon today for Ethanol Free 87 Octane gasoline that I use in my 55 TF 1500. Ethanol Free is readily available here in Florida for the Marine folks Regular 87 Octane gas is $1.65 per U.S. Gallon I use Premium 93 Octane in my 542 HP Jaguar XKR-S and currently pay $2.69 per U.S. Gallon My TF and Jaguar are not my daily drivers so the extra cost is not too much of a burden 1955 mgtf 9194 P.S. I am thinking of selling my 2012 Jaguar and buying a MGA. The old MGs are more fun and no pesky computers to make service and maintenance complicated |

Interesting how the octane ratings across the world are not the same. We have 2 grades of Premium fuel available in Aus, 95 and 98, both are ethanol free. Becoming difficult to get Standard unleaded that is ethanol free. Plenty of damaged engines and ancillary components blamed on ethanol fuels, I avoid it like the plague. |

I believe octane figures are computed with different methods worldwide. IIRC one is the motor method and one is the research method and they vary quite a bit. Others may have more details on this. It is rare to find pump gasoline in the USA at more than 92 octane now. In my area the common ones are 87, 89, and 91 all with 10% ethanol. |

$1.579 for 1 US gallon, 87 octane in Tampa Bay, Florida. 1 US gallon is equal to 3.8 litres. Cheers Gary 79 MGB |

We, here in the USA, are well aware of the lower gasoline prices we now enjoy. We assume this is due to the lower prices of crude oil. One thing that mystifies me is with the price of crude why does our motor oil cost remain sky high? Makes little sense to me other than the GREED explanation. |

Another mystery in the fuel and oil cost equation is the price of Aus diesel. Not that many years ago diesel was cheaper than petrol, now it is considerably dearer. As diesel is the first product to come of the refinery crack it is difficult to justify the price. |
G Evans |
We have the same issue with diesel here in New York state. The reverse in price differential came after the switch to "clean diesel" which is supposed to cost more to refine thus the increase in price. I don't buy the argument but I do buy the fuel. I have one of "those" VW Jetta polluters but it is nice to see over 40 mpg on a trip. Jim |

Only slightly to do with the price of oil, the main difference is tax. European countries see it as a good source of revenue, and few over here would disagree. Dave H |

I paid 2.84 per gallon for non ethanol 91 octane last week. |
