MG TD TF 1500 - Generic Fuel Pump Question
This is a question about the fuel delivery on my MGB, but whereas all SU fuel pumps are basically the same and I am comfortable with the advice of this group here goes. Whenever the B has been down for a few days, It will start fairly promptly, but after take off within two hundred yards I have a steep uphill climb, the car will inevitably stall. I will coast backwards home and after five minutes start again and it will go all day with the problem. Also the fuel pump clicks constantly ( to feed a ZS 175 Carb) Are these symptoms indicative of a dying fuel pump, maybe split diaphragm or something else. Again it will routinely do this after a few days of rest, then not happen again( no matter how many shut offs starts). Again I know it's a B but I feel comfortable with this group of advisers |

Jon - See the article, Fuel Delivery Troubleshooting Guide in the SU Fuel Pump Articles section on my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ It sounds like you have an air leak on the inlet side of your pump. Cheers - Dave |
