MG TD TF 1500 - Genuine TD/C Mark II TD on eBay
You might be interested to see a genuine Mark II car for sale on eBay, with a Buy-it-Now of $7,000. The ad gives only the engine number as XPAG 21541 (actually TD3/21541), which makes the car, according to my Mark II records, TD/C 21214, built in October, 1952. I can see the holes for the second fuel pump, and am confident this is a genuine car. I can't tell whether the Andrex shocks are there or the 1-1/2" carbs; they look small to me. The car is partly disassembled and re-done, but still needs a good deal of work. The wood has been replaced, but that could be good or bad - depending on what sort of job was done. All in all, it will be a lot of work, but it is a genuine Mark II car with matching numbers, perhaps 70% assembled. The expensive bodywork comes next, complete paint and interior, chrome, and no mention of engine or trans condition. Tom Lange Bar Harbor, Maine |

It's not a 1953 car - rear fenders show mounts for the rectangular tail lights. Windshield wiper motor is on the right side of the windshield, not center mounted. No time right now to look when those changes appeared. BobbyG |

Tom and Bobby, my TD (XPAG20660) was assembled in October 1952 and not too far away from the subject car you mentioned. It has always been titled as a '53. It has rectangular tail lamps and WS motor installed on the passenger side. Change over was 21303. |

Early 1953 cars had rectangular tailights as well.....? |

Very nice to see a listing this honest! Seller is doing a great job answering questions and posting the info to the listing. Surprised this one is still for sale! |

Buy-it-now went away, it's now bid to $5,600 with 3 days to go. Tom |

That's weird, why would someone bid it up close to $5k and not take the buy-it-now? Maybe a glitch of the proxy bidding, but why set the proxy above the BIN? Somebody's wasting his $. Oh - I see it now, someone with no bidding experience, who didn't know how things work. |

BIN was $7,000 but it's gone now, so it must have met his reaserve. Tom Lange |

BIN disappears after the first bid is placed. |
Rob Edwards |
When there is a reserve, BIN only disappears when the reserve has been met, as here. There were bids for at least 4 days with BIN as an option, and BIN disappeared yesterday - I suspect the reserve was $5500, asince it's at $5600 now. Tom Lange Bar Harbor, Maine |

Ah -- makes sense. I can't recall ever having bid on anything with a reserve.... |
Rob Edwards |
I was thinking that the BIN was $5000. Makes sense now. thanks, Al |
