MG TD TF 1500 - Good Chromer
I have no financial interest in this company, but I always like giving a shout-out to good service.
I used Custom Polish and Chrome Plating for my chrome parts. They did an exceptional job of taking out dents from my chrome headlights and also a fantastic job on my radiator shell. The shell had been damaged and was repaired some years back. Even after the repairs, it had waves in the metal. Custom smoothed it out, replaced damaged studs for the grill and did a super plating job on it. Last week I was putting my parking brake together. I was peening the large bolt when my mallet hit the back edge of the chromed brake lever. It caused a crack in the chrome and a bit peeled off. I sent it back to the chromer and was informed this was covered under their warranty. No charge for my screw up. |

Bruce- Are they the ones located down in Houston, Texas? |

Yes. They do a lot of the Studebaker club's chroming.
I did everything in the TD except the bumpers. It ran around $6500 That included. Headlight shells and rings, Radiator shell, Radiator headlight bracket, hood hinges, hood top strip, grab handle, emergency brake, door handles, all the windshield parts and brackets, fuel tank side panels, seat back chrome parts, side curtain plates/nuts, instrument cluster plate. As I mentioned above, I had minor dents and scratches in the headlight shells. The radiator surround had wrinkles and some of the slat studs were off. They did a fantastic job on everything. |

I used Paul’s Chrome to restore the headlights on the TD when I restored it about 10 years ago. One headlight bucket had a small dent in it, but the chrome was otherwise okay. The other light had been ripped from the stem, causing the base to be split in several places, then the bucket was run over and flattened. I took both to Hershey and met with the rep from Paul’s. I asked about fixing the small dent and replacing the one bucket, then showed them the other one more as a conversation piece, as I was looking for a replacement. The rep said “oh, we can fix that!” and they did. They did a fantastic job. The rivets securing the base to the bucket were replaced with chrome bolts, but you would never know it unless you took the rim/lens of and looked.
The most amazing part, other than the outstanding craftsmanship (you really can’t tell it was fixed) is the flattened headlight bucket was only $75 more than the other bucket, with the tiny dent! Be well, David |

Some years ago, Paul’s chromed my door lock covers. I had built a pair of Silent Travel locks from parts from several locks. One screw hole wasn’t in the correct place, I sent it back with the lock body and they fixed for free. Clearly my fault too. George |

I have a radiator shell I dropped a weed whacker on a few years ago that needs dent work, and rechroming, so this is a huge help to hear there's a US provider. Thanks! |

Custom took my headlights apart, and replaced the rivits with ones that are a perfect match. I would recommend them for their repair work also. |
