MG TD TF 1500 - green MG TF

are there any MG TF's out there that still retain the original green paint from the factory?
Thanks,

I have photos I took of one that still has the factory almond metallic under the guards and in the engine bay (the rest resprayed BRG).

Thanks, Matthew- my car also had AGM in those areas, but had been re sprayed black. As I excavate the over paint I have uncovered some of the original paint and buffed it out to get a feel for how it looked. I have not seen any pictures of Almond Green TF's that have not been re painted. My impression is that all green TF's were metallic, is that your impression?
Thanks,
James

james,,,, METALlIC ????

My car was originally Almond Green Metalic. This is a dusty medium green. It also had a green interior. Just not my preference for a TF. Now MG red w/ biscuit

I know that the mgcars originality site suggests that there was a metallic and a non metallic green available, but I wonder if there is any evidence that this is true? Has anyone seen original green paint on a TF that was not metallic? The metallic is very subtle with much smaller metallic particles than modern paints so you have to look closely to see them. I have seen quite a few images of cars claiming to be painted Almond Green Metallic, but seldom do they look close to the original color.

James ,
Wasn't sure if you had seen that.
Seems (as many things with these cars) about as clear as mudd!
I may have a pic of one on a cd out in the garage? I'll look today when I get out there and post here if I find it.
Cheers,
David

I have never come across an original green TF that was not Almond Green metallic.
This paint did not last very well compared to other paints. A lot of these cars had a respray early in their life. Since the respray was usually done by a local garage the colour was often switched for BRG as metallics were more expensive and difficult to handle.

I have attached pics of the factory paint that I mentioned. The exteriour of this car is BRG. Maybe looks a little dark in the pics.

This pic is of TF8194 which was on Ebay a while back in the USA, also shows the factory almond metallic.

If a TF was sprayed a regular (not metallic) green, then the code would read HDE46/XXXX, not HDE43/XXXX.

Thanks,

This spring when it warms up a bit I plan to finally repaint my car the original color or pretty close to it and return it to it's original green on green color scheme. I will post pictures.

James,
No luck so far finding that pic ...still looking.
It may be on an old hard drive. I have a pile of those but they are diffacult to get interfaced to anything made in the last 20 years!
