MG TD TF 1500 - Head Lamp & Parking Lamp
I don't understand this problem with my TD. Both Parking Lamps come on (light) when I turn the switch to Parking Lamp, when I turn on the Head Lamps the right Parking Lamp does not light (no power to the socket). What could be wrong? They worked a week ago when I drove the car at night. Louis |

The side lights should stay on when your headlights are on as well SO it might be the light switch is faulty. Do both tail lights come on? Rod |

From your description, it pretty much has to be the switch. I can't think of anything else that might do that. |

Hi Louis, the parking lights all come from the same terminal (T)check that connection,if it is bad the extra load could drag down the voltage.Disconnect the dip switch, switch on headlamps, if the park light does not come on then look at switch connection. Ray TF 2884 |

Rod, both tail lights work and both Parking lights work until I turn on the Head lights then the right parking light goes off. Thanks for your help. Louis |

Louis, that sort of symptom is often times the result of a wiring/ground issue where the lower wattage lamp is using the higher wattage lamp filament as its ground return path. Try this - with the headlamps on connect a wire between the parking lamp shell and a good ground under the bonnet. See if the parking light comes on. Bud |

Louis, Ray is dead right Take a look at the T terminal on the ignition/light switch and check all the wires are secure and clean? It might be something internal but this is the first thing to confirm. This is for a TD with indicators fitted if you can see it - had to make it small... |
