MG TD TF 1500 - Head lights
I have been putting a new wiring harness in my 1950 TD. Got to the headlights, to find that they have been badly converted to sealed beams. Someone has put friction tape around their edges to keep them in place. This model has chrome housings. Is there a sealed beam light that will correctly fit? If not is there a less expensive place than Moss to get original type parts? Tom |

Any 7" sealed beam will fit nicely in the original chrome rim. It should be retained by a number of "w" shaped spring clips. If you have no clips, that is the problem. I got new Lucas, made on orig. tooling rims for my TD from Abingdon Spares a couple years ago- absolutely beautiful. Not sure what the beef with Moss's prices are- I think they are very reasonable, as most T-series parts are downright cheap compared to a modern car or nearly any other hobby car. I always compare with Abingdon, and on occasion there is a big difference for the same part. |
