MG TD TF 1500 - Headlight bracket studs
On my headlight bracket on one side the holes for the fender studs comes all the way through the bracket. On the other, the stud hole is blind and does not come through the top. Which is correct? |

I have the same. Thought I had a pair of mismatched brackets! |

Seems odd they wouldn't be of the the same design. |

I have chromed headlamp brackets and had stripped stud threads. In removing the old studs (with much difficulty) the chrome broke above the stud on the bracket base indicating that the brackets were originally drilled through and then filled. It appeared that the stud holes may have been brazed originally. I fitted new studs and the chromer soldered the stud hole and then re-chromed. Given these brackets carry a fair structural load rethreading the studs smaller wasn't feasible. |
