MG TD TF 1500 - Headlight rims
I was taking a close look at my 55 TF 1500 over the weekend, and noticed that the rings around the headlamps are different on each side. One lamp has rounded sides to the ring, that look flush with the headlamp holder, and the other side has a very slight flare. The flare is only obvious if you put the two rings together, and notice that the rear facing diameter is slightly larger. Which one is correct? |

The rim with the slight rounded edge is correct. Do you still have the original A 700 headlamps? |

I'm not sure what you mean, Colin. On my car, I had the slightly larger rims, and I bought replacements from Moss. The replacements had a smaller profile, and the outer edge of the rear matched up perfectly with the fender profile, makind a smooth line. The old chrome looked pretty awful, but I couldn't get the replacement rims to fit (too tight), so I polished up the old ones. They actually look pretty good now, and I installed them on the car. I have no idea if these are the originals, but the back edge (where it meets the fender/wing) is slightly larger than the 'pod' on the fender. I'm happy with how they look now. |

Thanks for the offer Colin, but I think I have it figured out. I will order one from somewhere and have a 50/50 chance of matching one or the other. That way I will only have to purchase one. Anyone have suggestions on where the best place is to order from concerning these types of parts? |

Try Ron Boisevert seaweednh@comcast.net He usually sells via the internet and has lots of T parts. I have bought from him the past. |
