MG TD TF 1500 - Hello From GOF

Had a great drive to Sheboygan WI today. Only minor issue was that The nut came off my clutch rod. Luckily Dave Braun had a spare with him.

Lot of MG's in the parking lot. What a great site. Will try to post a picture soon.
Bruce-C

You're a great guy to travel with, Bruce. If I hadn't had the nut, we would never have found the hotel without you... All I did was stand there hoping oncoming traffic would notice me and give you berth as you did your magic under the car.

I wonder how long the keg in the hospitality room will last? Good think Dan Craig brought a trailer full of OSH!
Dave Braun

....Oh, you guys are having way too much fun....

It was a beutiful day at GOF Central today. Temps in the 80"s, sunshine and lots of cars. I to will try and post some photos. Good beer, good friends and new friends here at Sheyboygan.
TRM Maine

There was beer? I'd have stayed longer!

Here is the Skipper (aka Dave Braun) and his Ginger about to set sail in the SS MGTD on another perilous tour during the Funkana

Bruce-C

Ok, Here is another Skipper (aka me)with his Gilligan about to set sail.

Sheboygan Daily paper has pictures of the Funkhana. Check out this link...

Lots of pictures, or just go to the site and check for the Sept 15 photos! The photo caption of the first photo (attached) "Dave Braun puts his MG through the Fun Kahana course with Diane Vinar during "The MG Gathering of the Faithful Central" Tuesday Sept. 15, 2009 along South Pier Drive. The 31st annual event drew about 100 cars from around the midwest. Photo by Bruce Halmo/The Sheboygan Press Bruce Halmo"

(I think Bruce and his Gilligan beat me and my Ginger)

warmly,
dave

Dave Braun

LaVerne and his daughter LeeAnn in the TF, Dan and Sharon Craig in the B from the Sheboygan paper.

Dave Braun

Bruce parking the TD from the photos in the Sheboygan paper. We were well covered!

Dave Braun

Great photos, great newspaper coverage....
gblawson(gordon)

Great event. Super people. Even got Dave Braun to give me a tech session on setting up TD carbs. He approaches it from a engineers point of view (which he is)and it makes a lot more sense than any of the instructions I have read. I would bet that the majority of TD's probably do not have their floats set to the optimal point.

I won a silent auction for a MGTC pedal car kit that is about 90% done. I will make it my winter project and see if I can bring it to Ohio. I will do some pictures for the group as I start on it.

Seeling Lavern's TF was a real treat. What a beautiful car.

Next year's GOF central is in Ohio near Sandusky on July 1,2, and 3.

Hope this works, This is the lineup of a few of the 56 cars getting ready to go on the track at Road America in Elkart Lake, Wisconsin. What a blast. Know a lot of photos were taken and I will try and get some of mine posted...GOF was great and the track was the highlight of the meet.

TRM,
Out of curiosity, what were the rules for the RA track tour? We will be including one in the midget 50th in 2011 and I understand that they have tightened things up since the event I did last year.
David "did I mention the autocross on the Motorplex track?" Lieb
David Lieb

For us there were no "rules" we had a pace car go out ahead of us and we were given 3/4 laps. I understand that there is a time at the track where one can run the track for 50 bucks for an hour, all commers at a time. It was fun. I think there are rules to really race the car such as helmets, seatbelts etc. Our T types may be exempt from that but I am not sure.
It is a very beautiful track. lots of turns, hill, and trees.
TRM Maine

heres one that I held up the camera and took a photo of the cars behind me. Quite a bunch of T cars.

TRM Maine

Here is another one..

TRM Maine

Ah yes, the downhill run to turn 7, just before the carousel. Looks almost like a painting ;-)
David "sure looks good covered in T-Types!" Lieb

That would make a great poster....

Really fun time, espectially meeting the folks from this BBS who are just as nice in real life as they come across in their posts. Bruce is an excellent mechanic and caught on quickly to my 'engineering' approach to setting carbs. I enjoyed working with him very much. Laverne's car is amazing, and his daughter, LeeAnn, very sweet. Dan Craig drove my TD and discovered a few things that he plans on doing on his TD MkII as a result. Laverne, Dan and I each won plaques for our cars, while Bruce came out with a nice Rally award, and the aforementioned pedal car.

Pictures of the GOF are on line at http://www.dbraun99.com/gofxxxi/

There are also some photos of the other things that we did on the return trip.

warmly,
dave
