MG TD TF 1500 - Holley Carb set up for TF on Ebay - This is Odd
Has anyone ever seen anything like this before - I can't imagine that those carbs would fit under the hood at all - guess it is for racing purposes only. Interesting manifold - it will be fun to see if this moves - and at what price? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190374112999&viewitem= |

Sent a question to him asking if he has actually seen these on a TF and with or without bonnet in place. |

That was quick! "They are about the same size as SU's and fit under the bonnet. I have seen a picture in the hollywood catalog years ago" |

Heck, if I wasn't already satisfied with my set-up I'd buy those just to be different. |

"They are about the same size as SU's and fit under the bonnet." With air filters? I doubt it. I'm sure most here have seen this page: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_accessories_superchargers.htm |

If the stock aircleaner can sit up above the engine, am sure a couple little chrome pots would have lots of room? |

There were quite a few companies producing aftermarkedt manifolds for the T-series (usually TD) cars in the '50's. I have 6 different varieties, including Nicson, Badger, Weiand, &c. They used either dual Holley or Ford 60 carbs, although I have one manifold for a single (why?). I even have a dual Solex set-up for the TD on an original factory Solex manifold, with great linkage! I've put a Nicson manifold and Holley carbs on a TD just to see what it is like. The car was livlier, quicker to tune, and a little noisier; mileage was a bit worse. Easy to fit, and funky-looking! Mine had K&N filters on both carbs, and fit under the bonnet fine. Tom |
