MG TD TF 1500 - Horn & Headlight Dimmer
To anyone who plans to install Horn & headlight Dimmer Switch Moss Motors P/N 140-700 be careful. I installed it on my rebuild and had all sorts of weird things going on. I pulled the switch off and that's when I noticed three of the four wires were wired in the wrong position. The brown/black wire for the horn was actually wired for the high beam position, the solid blue wire which is connected to the ignition switch was in fact connected to the horn button, and the blue/white wire which was supposed to be for the high beam was now wired for the power. The only wire that was where it was supposed to be was the low beam. |

I warned them of this when I discovered that all of the wires were off one pole to the left or right...can't remember but that was 4 years ago. I felt lucky I had the dash out for a quick disconnect. As it was when I pushed the horn button it made a direct short to ground and got hot enough in a split second to melt the solder on the bullet connector. I sent pictures and an explanation to Moss at the time. |

IMHO this happens far too often with too many Moss products. Anyone can make a mistake but to continue to ignore problems once you have been alerted to them is inexcusable! I'm just glad they're not the only supplier. Peter TD 5801 |
