MG TD TF 1500 - Identifying Master Cylinder
Moss lists two master cylinder rebuild kits. Type(1),Lockheed cylinders prior to 1995 and replacement cylinders. Type(2),Lockheed cylinders from approx 1995 thru 2002 Type(3), after 2003 I know the difference is the pistons, but how do I know which one I have without taking it apart, if possible? PJ |

PJ, I don't know of a way to look at the housing and tell which one you have. Of course if it were me, and I was doing a frame off restoration, I would take the darn thing apart regardless. I think I've had mine apart three times in 30 years. Take digital pictures and carefully note the re-installation order of the parts, assuming the last guy did it correctly. warmly, dave |

By the depth of the encrusted crud on the exterior ;-)? Cheers - Dave |

Yup, your right! Just take it apart and look! Everything in the system gets rebuilt anyway, along with new lines as the old ones have a few dents in them. Thanks! PJ |
