MG TD TF 1500 - I'm an idiot
Bought TF9142 in 1967. Have removed fuel pump many times for many reasons. Always removed rear wheel, grovelled under car, swallowed spilt fuel, etc. Just noticed that if you take out four screws and remove the centre panel from the sidescreen box, removal is dead easy from above. Drat. Feel free to agree with my self - assessment. Entered in the hope that there may be other idiots around who'll benefit. David |

Don't tell anyone David, but you can also check the diff oil there too. ;-) Matthew. |

Dave you sound like a man in need of the driver's handbook. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Dont worry mate your not the last of the breed. When I had trouble getting a new tank to pump copper fuel line to seal I never contemplated access via the from above approach. Nothing like laying in fuel to quell the enthusiasm to rectify a problem. |

David, et al, Cheer up!! You have plenty of company. I went to trickle charge my MG's battery overnight. Hooked up the terminal leads, and turned the charger on and left the garage . Next day, battery still flat. Had I plugged in the charger, it would have worked. Albert Einstein said, (paraphrase here) "The difference between genius and stupidity is, genius is limited" So keep on doing it !! (LOL) Cheers mate Gary 79 MGB |

When I saw the title of this thread I was trying to remember when I posted it. :-) Tim |

I would never have known except I had to replace the flooring of my rear compartment and discovered the secret :) I replaced with a single sheet of ply but put in a stainless steel tray in the rear compartment - holds stuff, and can be removed to give access to differential & brakes |

I like the idea of the tray to hold more junk in the box - good thinking. I was lucky as the PO had a copy of the original Operation Manual for the TF series so I have always accessed the diff. from the panel. He also gave me the original Workshop Manual TF 9194 |
