MG TD TF 1500 - Installation of electrical protection

Anybody have info or source of info regarding the installation of a fuse block and headlight relay? I have several fuseblocks from 60/70's era MGs lying around and thought about the best way to install one unobtrusively for main harness protection and for accessories. I have an early TD (w/dash dimming and no turn signals)- hence only two fuses on the 9 pole regulator. Also, is there an off-the-shelf relay one could buy from say Radio Shack which could be wired to the light switch to protect it from load? Thanks for any suggestions.

Brian, search the archives; and look over Bud Krueger's T-Talk website http://www.ttalk.info/. That will also lead you to a comprehensive article by Evan Ford on the subject. As far as fusing and relays go... I did put Dave DuBois' relay in my car next to the brake switch because the switch is known to have poor current carrying capablities. All TDs (and a lot of later MGs) have only two fuses. The systems work fine, and for the most part the swtiching is very robust. I guess unless I was expecting a dead short in one of my circuits, I wouldn't bother because adding fuses and relays simply add more connections to go wrong. But that's just my opinion.

Thank you Dave, AR and Bud. This is exactly what I was looking for, in fact more even. Not sure I will go this way but I wanted to do some research to see what would make sense - IF I decide to fuse some circuits that aren't already fused. I did buy the brake relay from Dave DuBois some time ago and plan to install it for sure. Thanks again,
