MG TD TF 1500 - It's a lovely car???
Will some one please buy this car , it has been up for sale at least 5 times on ebay . Maybe if they did not make it sound like a limp wrist car by calling it LOVELY it might sell. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4524306028&category=31858 |

The color is a little less than lovely. Tough sell. |

The seller is a dealer and probably wants too much for the TD, if, you gauge the prices he has on other cars for sale. eg: XJS Conv @$26,000. I saw a prime, spotless, low mileage, identical car sell at the R-M auction for $17,500. I bid $15,5 for it which is what they are going for. Yes, the colour is ugly, looks like firetruck. |

I wonder if this color is as bright as it looks? Some of the pictures look right and the exterior ones do look bad. Besides that though this looks like one of the nicest cars I have seen for sale on eBay for a long time. Very original restoration with just a few minor details that need to be straightened out. If it was a pale primrose instead of primrose I think it would be a great car. Not quite sure what the need for putting more running board strips on the front fenders were for. Chris |

Chris, These extra three running board strips (the smallest size of the standard three strips on the running board) seem to have been popular in the fifties also. It's maybe not an elegant solution but I think it can be practical. When entering or leaving the car you can't damage the paintwork on the wings with your shoes (??!!) In fact on the "Original MG TD" website there is a photo of a TD with similar strips: its the dark car half way in the magazine article on, www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_just_for_you.htm I think it doesn't look too bad in this yellow paint/red upholstery combination it's well ehh... different ! Anyway TD's in this state (not original but nicely restored), easily fetch 20.000 euros here in Holland (approx $ 26.000,-). With real top restorations going even more expensive. Is this car inside a green building with bad lighting maybe? I have a feeling it's closer to ivory than the pic's let on. My TF "photos" badly under some lighting as well. Other than the red interior & pipping doesn't look all that bad. If not a trick of the lighting ...a blue fez and velore jacket and your sure to be a hit on the local parade circuit!
