Different Jim replying, I had the NTD system installed and am quite pleased with the results. The install took some adjusting here and there mostly due to the individuality of the car. However the brakes are strong, the car stops in a straight line and probably due to the light weight of a TD it almost feels as it they were power assisted. If you read the original post you may remember that someone advised to remove the backflow (?) valve from the master cylinder but that is incorrect as that allows the pedal to lose pressure. Jim |

Due to the onset of cold weather, and the fact I am recovering from a serious bout of Vertigo, I have not road tested the new disc brakes yet. (I dont have a top or side curtains on the TD.....yet. No complaints about the quality of the kit or the service as of yet. Jim B. |

Actually, that was not the complete recommendation. It is recommended you remove the master cylinder backflow valve and then install the correct valving for each type of brake (10 psi and 2 psi - drum and disk respectively). Did you also add the other valves? This recommendation is from the MG TD Wilwood disk brake instructions, but the physics/engineering is the same when you mix (i) rear drum brakes (using strong retraction springs) with disk brakes (using weak dust shield pad retraction) and (ii) the master cylinder is below the floorboards (allowing fluid flowback). The change prevents disk pads from dragging on the rotor and almost every brake kit manufacturer makes the same recommendation. |

In the various discussions I’ve casually read regarding disc brake conversions I don’t recall any mention of a change to a dual reservoir and valved MC that splits the front and back axles. Is this not part of the Wilwood or others? And, if not then why not? Bill Chasser TD-4834 |

Hi Jim. Below is a typical diagram for brake systems designed with a combination of rear drum and front disk brakes. You can install the valves for the front and rear brakes circuits in the two lines from the master cylinder T-fitting. There are many sites that discuss brake system design on the net. Most systems will not need a proportioning valve when using MG calipers. Regards, Bill |

Maybe easier to see? Replace the duel outlet master cylinder with a single outlet and a T-fitting. |
