MG TD TF 1500 - Kick panel
I know there are a number of you out there that have information on some of the specifications for the TD when they came from the factory. Question is did the kick panels under the cowel go behind or over the cowel support tube? Current TD has them over the pipe, but I have seen they behind it also. |

Bruce - the panel goes over the tube. Dave |

"the panel goes over the tube"......... Darnitall....there's goes another "minus 2 points"... Mine are "under" ...I found it a great place to zip-tie my halon fire extiguisher in the passangers foot well. Handie to the carbs for when those lil' "overflow / eye wash" valves decide to stick! Although this has never happened to me when the engine was hot...the thought of washing the exhaust manifold with petrol played a part in my decesion for this location! Cheers, David 55 TF1500 #7427 |

David - I will only vouch for the TD, for your TF, under the tube may actually be + 2 points : ). That tube would be a good place for mounting a fire extinguisher. Fire extinguishers, regardless of where they are mounted should be worth many extra points. Cheers - Dave |

Dave and Dave, Can't agree with you more,,, Fire extinguishers are and should be the first thing on the check list !! While mounting it to the tube is a handy place indeed, I came up with another method which leaves the passenger area clear and uses otherwise useless space. I made up a wooden mount that holds the Fire Ext. under the drivers legs, and tight up against the front of the drivers seat. This mount has a piece of wood 3 inches wide that extends under the drivers seat for a distance of 6 inches. It has a small brad extending through it at the end under the seat to grab some of the carpet to hold it securely in place. It's stayed in place for many miles, and is right there when it has been needed. It can also be repositioned if the drivers seat is moved. I can supply pictures if any one wants to see it. SPW |

OK. I admit that having an extinguisher in any car is a good thing but you guys are scaring me. Please drive 50 yards behind me and any Ford Pintos :-) Chris |
