MG TD TF 1500 - knees getting wet in the rain
When driving for more than a little while in heavy rain in our TF we tend to get wet on our knees and legs. Water comes dripping down from somewhere under the dash, but I am unable to see the source as the glove boxes are in the way. I have two theories; 1: Water will ingress between scuttle and wiper grommets? 2. Water will ingress in split between scuttle and firewall, where the rubber seal is quite hard, and probably not very effective in keeping the water out? Has any one else on this BBS the same issues, or has it been solved? Dabs of clear silicone here and there?? regards Jan |

Jan, Only a guess, but I would think it's the wiper shaft rubbers. Their not the greatest for sealing the area, especially in a hard rain. Are yours flexible enough to pull out and put a little silicone in the groove in the rubber and replace? PJ |

I have never had any water dripping in that area Jan and I have driven in some pretty hard rains. I'd guess the rubber on the cowling. I think the only way to be certain would be to flush the area with a hose and check under the dash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Utwmmfqoh7I |

Good idea to try and simulate the situation with a hose! LaVerne; that movie of yours shows RAIN!! But no wiper? Even with RainX vision really becomes blurred with rain intensity like that without wipers. regards, Jan |

Yes and thats why I upgraded to a midget two speed wiper motor Jan. The original wiper motor was pretty sorry. |
