MG TD TF 1500 - Laystall alum. head gasket
Where can I get a head gasket for my Laystall alum. head on my xpag engine? THANKS MICHAEL. |

Try XPAG Engineering, makers of the Laystall head. Dave H |

I’ve simply used the head gasket appropriate for my block. So far as I know there isn’t one specific for a Laystall head |

That seems to be common sense. |

The reason I am asking this question is that a new laystall head is 1/2" wider than a stock Xpag head. MICHAEL. |

The block has not changed in size so the mating area is unchanged. Ray TF2884 |

The L-L head is wider overall only because the manifold face with intake runners has been widened. The block and cylinder-head areas are still the same, so a normal head gasket fits fine. I recommend one of Manley Ford's Cometic gaskets. Don't forget to use special hardened, parallel-ground washers under the head nuts. Depending on the model car, you may find that the wider head does not permit the fitting of air filters. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Air filters are not an issue if the port side of the head is milled. My LL has been milled off midway through the lettering. The head was cast in 1970. Don’t know if there have been design changes made to the actual castings prior to or since mine was manufactured. |
