MG TD TF 1500 - Leather Restoration and Diecast Model

I have two questions.

I cannot seem to locate a diecast/scale model of a TD. Moss and others sell TC models. Does anyone know of anyplace that sells TD models?

The leather (seat cover) in my TD is discolored and stained. I have tried using leather cleaners and conditioners with no success. The leather is in good condition otherwise. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Have you tried 'Leatherique'...
gblawson - TD#27667

As Gordon says, Leatherique. They make dyes, conditioners, and cleaners. I have used them all many times on my Jags. If your leather is in good condition, not dried out and still supple, it probably is best to just redye. Really easy to do, but as with any refinishing project, the secret is in the preperation. I use Leatherique conditioner to soften dried leather, and I like their cleaner too, but my preference for dye is Surflex dye that I get from Color Plus on line. You'll enjoy reading their great leather booklet on line too. I have no affiliation, just a happy customer.

You could try K&R Replicas for the TD model

Finecast still list a 1/24th scale kit on their website. I built the TF a couple of years ago and was impressed by standard of detail and fit.

There is a Revell TD model which you find occasionally at swap marts. Its advantage is that you can make it to look exactly like your own car, plate included, as I have done.

A few months back I purchased two very nice 1/18 scale TCs in red and green, made in China. These have opening bonnets and doors and steering. About $50 AUS. Wouldnt it be great if TDs and TFs were also available.

Matthew.

The Fine-cast TD (1/24th) is on sale at Moss right now at $134 (reg. $160). Pricey, but I hear they're nice.

Contrary to Ray, the fit of the parts of my Finecast TF model was poor ...

Thanks everyone. As always, this forum is fantastic!

I ordered a leather dyeing kit from www.colorplus.com for $104 including shipping. The kit contains the stripper, conditioner and dye. It covers 150 SF, which should be plenty for my LBC. I am excited to try it out and give the interior a fresh look. I will post results.

As for the diecast, the TD models all seem to be expensive kits including the one at Moss. I would rather spend the money on my real car. Unfortunately, the 1:24 assembled models for $25 - $30 are all TCs, which surprises me, because there are more TDs out there than TCs.
