MG TD TF 1500 - Leg Room
My wife and I just returned for a quick trip to Baltimore to visit our son and grand son. An interesting fact that we learned while flying both ways - the average MG (including T series, MGA, MGB and midget) has considerably more leg room than is found on 737s, 757s, or A320s. Anyone taller than about 5' 0", has their knees right up to their chins. Next time, we'll take the MGB! Cheers - Dave |

David Low cost seat pitch in Europe varies from 29" to 32". The less you pay the less you get appears to be the rule. The MGB has acres of space, but what about luggage? Happy New rear John |

Just returned from Denver on redeye crammed into an A320. Besides more leg room, our cars don't have screaming babies sitting next to you! Happy New Year everyone, a very sleep deprived George. |

John - We would have been ecstatic with 29". My wife and I make a yearly trip to California from Bremerton (about 1200 miles each way) in our MGB to visit aging parents and have no problem taking all the is needed for a two to three week stay, including a full set of tools and a laptop computer, scanner and a CD burner for my wife's genealogy work. All of the luggage is inside the boot or behind the seats in the car (none on the luggage rack) and we generally have enough room to bring back 6 or 8 bottles of wine and innumerable bottles of olives that we pick up on the way. The secret is true soft side luggage and a lot of things tucked loose into odd spaces in the trunk. All of this and we don't have to put up with luggage screening and going through, what is just short of a strip search by TSA. George - Just think, in a couple of years, we can add loud, obnoxious cell phone conversations to the screaming babies - and the airlines think we should be grateful to them. Cheers - Dave |

I was surprised on my trip to Watkin's Glen that i managed a "large sleeping bag", "roll up air matress", "tent", "soft large carry on type bag", "tools", "two blankets", "tonneau", "half toneau", "side door flaps/spats", "oil", "spare fuel pump" "fold up lawn chair with arms", "camera bag",a "pillow", and a "Canadian flag (Red Ensign) with 5' flag pole".... not bad for a TD. http://www.niagarabritishcarclub.org/flag.jpg |

John While in measurment I agree with you, I dont have to operate an accelerator, brake and clutch pedal during my flights. I do agree that if you get the window seat and have a underseat bag that keeping your foot on the hump on the window edge of an airliner gives my leg a similar feeling as when it is crammed up on the accelerator of the TD. |

Bruce Do you also wear a leather flying helmet and driving gloves when flying United? The only trips I do now are to Munich with BA three or four times a year. They have an online check-in and seat selection. 11 & 12 are emergency exit rows on the 737-400 so I can imagine I'm driving a Rolls Royce Wraith! John |

I am flying to KS Monday. I'll see how much leg room I'll have in our King Air 300 compared to my TD. Cheers, Don |

Here we go again ...my favorite subject...still have "the cure" ...your still not gonna like it! Double the leg room in your MG! Cheers & Best Regards, David 55 TF1500 #7427 (aka: monoped dave) |
