MG TD TF 1500 - License Plate Wiring
Just had car totally repainted took tank off so job could be complete all around. Remounting all chrome and trim, and forgot to rewire license plate light prior to remounting/securing gas tank. Par for the course. My question is the wires(red and black) for the light pass out of the fixture through the upper horizaontal pipe of the tire carrier and exit out the hole on lower edge of pipe behind hub of carrier. Question how are they then routed to the harness below the rear splash. Hey Bud K painter screwed up and painted car PRG versus MG red "PAG" liked it so much turned down offer to repaint for zero, then I realized I liked it so much because it looks like "Lazarus" |

Jon, check the thread below called 'number plate wiring'. Dallas Congleton attached a great image showing how the wires are routed. BTW, Lazarus' color is Autumn Red. I'll have to get up to your place shortly and see the car. |

Hey Bud great to hear from you where is this "number plate wiring" located no thrtead below and couldn't find in archives |

Jon- The wiring exits the horizontal pipe and travels straight down behind the tire carrier but in front of the gas tank. It then exits between the tank and the lower splash shield. Once behind the splash shield the wires are fixed to the horizontal rear frame bar (round bar). The separated wires from this part of the harness travel to the right tail light, gas tank sending unit, and left tail light. My rear light harness was separated at the left hand side of the car, in the rear, where it joins with the main harness leading up to the master cylinder. |
