MG TD TF 1500 - Location of stop light switch
Getting ready for a car show and all work EXCEPT the brake lights. I took out the wiring diagram a car with separate control and fuse book. I trace the diagram but have no clue where the stop lamp switch is. Thanks Joe |

Sorry that is fuse box. It is a MG TD. All lights except brake lights work. Sorry could not find how to edit. Joe |

Stop lamp switch is a pressure switch and will be near the brake master cylinder mounted to the first junction block. Two green wires are into screw connections. Short the connection and if you have brake lights... then the pressure switch may be faulty. |

If you find the fault is the pressure actuated stop lamp switch I have found the commonly available ones are pretty poor quality these days and fail prematurely. I now run a better one made by Ron Francis Wiring and have had no further failures in multiple cars I run them in. Not inexpensive but more reliable and have the added bonus of being a low pressure switch which turns the stop lamps on at the first push of the brake pedal. Google Ron Francis Wiring for details. |
