MG TD TF 1500 - LUCAS GENERATOR ?????
I have a Lucas generator whixh looks like new. It is model 22715F--12 volt. On the rear it has an outlet for a tach drive but it is coming out at 90 degrees and seems that it points straight up when installed. It has Lucar connectors (spade) Can anybody tell me what it fits? Sandy |

Hi Sandy, are you sure that you have a tach drive here and not the oiler hole which also has a thread tapped into it? Cheers, Paul. |

Paul; I a very familiar with Lucas generators as I have been rebuilding British cars for a living since 1980 and as owner of all types of them since my first car in High School in 1948, It was a Morris 10 of 1938. This generator looks like the average MGA-TD-TF benerator except that the tach drive that is mounted to the rear plate has a 90 Degree turn to it. When installed on a car it would appear to point straight up and not straight out. It also has Lucar connectors. It has been mentioned that it could possibly one that was intended for either a Ford or IH tractor. I have not removed the rear plate to examine the tail end of the armature for comparison with that of the TD-TF-midget ones with tach drives. Sandy |

Having a 90 degree fitting would suggest it was placed further rearward? on the engine (not sure how that works) or sideways? hmmm thats a good one? |

Other than tractors, I'm thinking transverse as in Mini's. |
