MG TD TF 1500 - Lucas Switch Panel
Take a look at the under dash Lucas Switch panel I have to the left of the sterring wheel. I am looking for another like it (4 switch mounting holes), or even a 1,2 or 3 switch version, which Lucas also made. They are as you can see, chrome, with the lucas name on the bottom. They do pop up on eBay occassionally, but I haven't seen one for a while since, I missed out on the last one due to computer downtime. I have browsed all of the usual suspects both in the US and UK, without success, and pretty much figure it will take finding a parts vendor that has lots of NOS Lucas parts, or an enthusiast that has a decent one they'd part with. Any leads locating one appreciated. TIA Larry |

Larry, have you tried Holden Vintage parts? Using a search for switch panel I found a listing for a Lucas panel, but no photo -- part number 60033007. http://www.holden.co.uk/ Regards, Dennis |

Larry- Try Triple C in PA, they often have specials on Lucas bits. (I will inquire at the British Invasion in Stowe,Vt. this weekend, as they always have a trailer there.) Also I believe there is NOS Locators in RI. They seem to have syocks of lots of things. Paul |

Thanks folks. Yes, the Holden Lucas panel is the modern plastic snap on panel at £3. The Lucas chrome ones are quite heavy duty and not exactly inexpensive. Triple-C does not have them either. I'm going to have to find a NOS or excellent used part as I'm sure these have not been made for decades. Thanks again Larry |

The switches are likely to be one of those, found near the bottom of this page http://www.gregorysautoparts.com/catalogue.php?t=1&c=42. Classic Car Accessories also show a selection of the same switches, see page bottom of http://www.classic-car-accessories.com/electrical/. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Thanks Gordon, but it's the bare panel I am looking for, not the switches. The bare panels with 1, 2, 3 or 4 holes for mounting a variety of switches were stock Lucas items back in the day. Larry |

Larry, Nice clean looking car ! I am wondering what the hole in the cowling is for? Just in front of the windscreen mount. Radio antenna ? (when the wind screen is up) SPW |

Steve, thanks. I would imagine that's what the PO had there. It's got a rubber plug in there now. Larry |

Larry, could you explain what those extra switches are for? Thanks, Denis |
Denis L Baggi |
Denis, the one on the left is a push button starter switch. The next is the fog lamp switch, next the driving lamp switch, and the last is a TD type amber warning light indicating either the fog or driving lamp is on. Cheers Larry |

Do you hit the panel with your knee... picked up an old ashtray yesterday at Bronte and on the way home tried to figure out where I might put it without putting holes in the dash and that spot was about the only place...then i noticed my left knee rests about there? |
