MG TD TF 1500 - M/C sleeve dimensions
Need to re-sleeve the master cylinder for my TF. Can anybody advise the recommended sleeve dimensions. Also a source for the material (prefer brass). Thanks. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Gord, Sleeving a cylinder is easy, the big problem would be drilling the tiny, and I mean TINY recuperation hole and making sure there was no sharp edge. Ray TF 2884 |

Gord, The bore is 7/8" so you would need brass tubing with that ID. I agree with Ray that the hole might be tricky. I would drill it undersize and then ream to the final dimension. That will remove the burrs. That is how I drill the dials on my clocks and gauges. It works a treat. Regards Declan |

I forgot to say there are two holes, the larger hole is no problem. The smaller is a pig, I had to scrap a cylinder after the drill snapped and stuck in the body. Ray |

Ray, Can happen all to easily. I know the story. I would certainly use brand new bits. Regards Declan |

HI Declan, this was before the days of magic things call Dremel.I think the drill was 1/32" I was using a hand spinner and got too enthusiastic. Ray |
