MG TD TF 1500 - Master Cylinder Replacement Option
Has anyone ever tried to substitue a TD master cylinder for a more modern one that has a split independant front-back function? Any success? Got any details? |

The only reason I can think of to do so would be if you installed front disk brakes, and even then, a proportioning valve would suffice. If it's a safety issue, the emergency brake is quite effective. I've installed a Vega master cylinder to go along with MGB front brakes and Ford rear end. Left the MC under the floor, but you need a residual pressure valve for the front brakes. HTH, George B. |

Thanks George. I have MGB front and rear breaks. I have a leaking master of unknown condition. If it needs replacing, a master with a smaller diameter and modern safety features make sense. If it was a easy job I would want to go that route. |
