MG TD TF 1500 - MG Bracket ???
Hi, I was cleaning out my shop and found this bracket. It is 5 1/8" long and 3" wide. It has a 3/8" nut welded to one end. I thought it maybe for an MGA, but it maybe for a MGTD, mgtf. I've restored 2 MGAs, and several years ago a '52 MGTD. Anyone know what it is for? Lyle |

Lyle, This bracket looks a little like the bracket on a TF that attaches the chassis/scuttle support pipe to the body. The shape is very similar but on my car the bracket has 4 bolt holes and no welded nut so it isn't that but maybe something similar for some other model? Bill |

Can't help with the identification but I guarantee that as soon as you dispose of it (or modify it for another use) you'll quickly discover where it should have gone. Gene |

Looks to me like the bracket (1 of 2) that hold the WindTone horns on a TD. Tom |

Corner bracket for the cowl support bar of a TD. Two holes attach to the support bar and bolt comes through the cowl throught the wood into the nut. |

Tom, I believe the Windtone horn reinforcement brackats are flat, the ones on the horn are right angles. Bruce, the rollbar or cowl support bar brackets have four holes, none of which have a welded on nut. I don't believe they are from a TD. dave |

If the nut is threaded, the thread might narrow it down a bit. Marvin |

Thanks a lot for the help everyone. The nut is threaded. I also posted this question for MGA. I was told it is the bracket holding the seat to the wheel arch of a TD. I did restore a '52 TD several years ago and two MGAs.I have 1 MGA now, and had a MGB. My son has 2 MGBs, and a MGCGT, we're a MG family. Lyle |
