MG TD TF 1500 - mg maroon found
Has anyone tried POR-15's "MG Maroon" engine enamel? Is it the right color (whattever that is) for our TD/TFs? http://www.prp-porstore.com/POR-15-Engine-Enamel.html Terry |

On my moniter, its the same color as 69 B engine. T series engines I've seen at shows it closer to Farmall(International) tractor red although I have no idea if thats correct. LaVerne |

Don't know about these engine colours. I had a big row with a concours judge once, who claimed that the maroon colour of my 1959 MGA-engine was much too dark ! At that time I was certain that it was the right colour!!! Later I found out in Clausager's "Original MGA", that the factory used different batches of paint all with slightly different colours. My 1963 midget has what the expert's call BMC Grassy Green engine paint, though a spare unit I used for parts, was clearly Olive Green (original). So to make a long story short: I think they just used what was available in the factory and there is no such thing as an "original" colour for MG engines. For the T-types: as long it's dark red it's okay....8^) Cheers, Nick 52TD/63Midget. |
